Okinawa Beaches

Okinawa Prefecture has numerous beaches scattered throughout the prefecture. Therefore, there are many opportunities to enjoy beach resorts.

There are two types of beaches: managed and natural.

Managed beaches are equipped with jellyfish prevention nets, lifeguards, showers, toilets, stores, parking lots, and vendors offering various activities, making it easy to use the beach.

In addition to swimming, many of the beaches have barbecue facilities where visitors can enjoy eating and drinking while gazing at the ocean.

On the other hand, these facilities are basically non-existent on unmanaged beaches. Therefore, care must be taken to find places to change clothes, toilets, etc. In addition, Okinawa's ocean is inhabited by dangerous creatures such as habu jellyfish, bonito fish, and onioderma lucidum, so be especially careful when swimming in areas without jellyfish-preventive nets.
