Okinawa Food

Okinawa Prefecture has a unique food culture that differs from other prefectures.

Perhaps one of the most famous Okinawan meals is Okinawa soba.
It is made with wheat flour noodles in a soup made from bonito or pork bone broth. Toppings include tripe, soki, and ginger. Although it is called soba, buckwheat seeds are not used.

Chanpuru is also well known. Chanpuru means "jumbled together" and is a stir-fried dish with various vegetables and other ingredients mixed together.
There are different types of chanpuru depending on the ingredients used, such as goya chanpuru, somen chanpuru, and foo chanpuru.

Various other unique dishes exist, such as raftae (Okinawan-style stewed pork cubes), sea grapes (seaweed), mimigar (pig ears), and sucgaras (salted fish).

Chinsuko, red potato tarts, pineapples, and other fruits are standard souvenirs.
