Hamahigajima ( hamahigajima )

Hamahigajima 1

A small island located at the tip of Katsuren Peninsula in the central part of Okinawa Prefecture. It is accessible by car from the main island of Okinawa by the Sea Road.

The island is said to be sacred because of the cave where Amamikyo and Sinerikyo, the founders of the Ryukyu Islands, are said to have lived and the tombs of the two men.

It is a lush green power spot.

The island is also known as a place to pray for a child, as the legend has it that Amamikyo and Sinerikyo were blessed with a child here.

There are also natural beaches and other places where you can take a relaxing stroll.
